Antonella Malis (Split), a Croatian soprano, comes from a musical family. She started her musical education at the age of four in the music kindergarten Josip Hatze Music School, which continued over the many years as a soloist in the Srdelice children’s choir. She graduated at the Art Academy of the University of Split as a professor of music culture and obtained her masters in bel canto singing at the International Music Academy in Rome (AIDM) under the mentorship of Teresa Rocchino.

After winning the first prize by interpreting the Neapolitan song I 'te vurria vasa at the international competition "Pacem in terris" organized by the Italian national radio and television RAI TV in 1999, she performed in 2001 in front of the Pope John Paul II and the Cardinal Ratzinger (Pope Benedict XVI) and made her debut in the title role of the Croatian operetta “Mala Floramye“ by Ivo Tijardović.

As part of the European tour, she performed with the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra as Tatiana in P. I. Tchaikovsky's opera EUGENE ONEGIN in the most prestigious concert halls, such as: Budapest (New Philharmonic Hall/Temple of Culture), Gyor (Philharmonic Concert Hall), Villach (Congress Center), Linz (Brucknerhaus), Salzburg (Großes Festpielhaus), Moscow (P. I. Tchaikovsky Concert Hall), Dubna and Sochi (Russian State Theatre), as well as Zagreb (Concert Hall Vatroslav Lisinski). In 2006, she was the first foreign artist to perform in Dubna and Sochi since the collapse of the Soviet Union.

She accomplished notable acting roles in P. Shafer's dramatic play "Amadeus" as Catherina Cavalieri and in the musical "Nunsens" as Sister Mary Amnezia, a musical based on the hit film "Sister Act".

 

In collaboration with the guitarist Prof. Goran Listeš she promotes to the Croatian and international audience their joint CD named CANZONE NAPOLETANA with the sounds of romantic Naples, published by the publishing house Scardona.

In the past few years, she has been engaging in concert performances, collaborating with a large number of artists and ensembles in Croatia and abroad (Europe, Canada, Russia).

Accompanied by the Original Wiener Strauss Capelle orchestra, she performed as a special guest of the city of Opatija at the Vienna Opera Ball in 2013, 2015 and at the First Vienna Ball in Zagreb in 2017 and 2018.

 

She recognized the value and authenticity of the acoustics of the Roman quarry Cave Romane in Vinkuran and, with concert performances of international collaborations in the period from 2014 to 2019 (Carl Orff: Carmina Burana), she actively participated in promoting summer concert programs of the future new cultural and tourist center in the municipality of Medulin.

 

In cooperation with the Croatian Association of Laryngectomized Persons and the University Hospital Centre Zagreb and Rijeka, she starts in 2019 the humanitarian musical project "Voice from the heart for people without vocal cords", with the aim of raising public awareness of the importance and power of the voice in everyday life.

She is the author of the conceptual, educational, innovative and entertaining program "My songs, my dreams", a multi-sensory journey through music, film, wine and delicacies, premiered in 2022 at the Croatian National Theater in Split.

 

In recent years, as an independent artist in collaboration with renowned musicians, she has been promoting classical music and opera with a crossover repertoire in Croatia and abroad.

She participates in numerous pop music festivals and TV shows - her interpretations can be found on DVDs and CDs, as well as on radio stations.

 

At the beginning of 2024 she celebrated 30 years of her artistic career on stage with the music program "Canzone Mediterranea" and the “Orchestra of Josip Cvitanović” on the stage of the Gavella Drama Theatre in Zagreb.

She is the initiator and leader of the Asti Faros - Light of Music event in UNESCO field, which will be held in the Stagoradski field from September 2025, with the central event "When the Sun Sings", a concert and a sunset.
